I wrote a very heartfelt post about the Vida Count, my own lack of confidence, and my hopes and fears re: motherhood and writing… and WordPress ate it. Damn.
In lieu of my post, read these:
A Curious Thing: Motherhood, Confidence, and Getting the Work Done
Interesting links, Flirty. I wish I could have read your stolen post. I think that motherhood, like most things in life, makes you prioritize the 24 hours that you’ve always had. A writer will write, a painter paint, a hiker hike, and musicians play. When you become a mother, you don’t stop being who you are… but you do have to decide who you want to be. Motherhood is a vocation, and as such it can lead you to holiness and to your truer self. If some women leave off writing when they become mothers, they either need more time to adjust and prioritize or they may be discovering themselves for the first time. I love the blog, and I’m glad that you haven’t dropped it.
